    Gunnar Nylund was a Swedish ceramicist, designer and sculptor who was born in 1904 in Paris. He was the son of Finnish-Swedish sculptor Felix Nylund and Danish artist Fernanda Jacobsen-Nylund. He studied architecture at the Technical University of Helsinki and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. He worked as a ceramicist for Bing & Grøndahl, Saxbo and Nymølle in Denmark. He was the artistic director of Rörstrand in Sweden from 1931 to 1955 and later as a freelance. He created many stoneware pieces with matte glazes and chamotte textures, as well as animal sculptures and public works. He also designed sanitary ware, glass, silver and other products for various companies. He was influenced by Bauhaus, functionalism and nature. He also painted watercolors in his later years. He died in 1997 in Lomma.
