Otto Nebel was a German painter, printmaker, designer, actor, and writer born on December 25, 1892 in Berlin. He started his professional career in 1909 in the field of building engineering. He took acting classes at the Lessing theater in Berlin until 1914. His acting teachers were the famous Rudolf Blümner and Friedrich Kayssler. Nebel’s artistic career began in 1915 when he met Herwarth Walden and became involved with the Sturm Gallery in Berlin. He was a member of the Novembergruppe from 1918 to 19201. Nebel was also a member of the Deutscher Werkbund and the Bauhaus. Nebel’s work is characterized by its abstract forms and bright colors. He was influenced by the work of Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee. Nebel died on September 12, 1973.
